PowerGo Control Unit –  Troubleshooting Guide

If your PowerGo control unit does not appear to be charging or functioning correctly, please work through the following checks in order.


1. Lamp Not Connected

Symptom: The PowerGo indicator flashes briefly and then turns off when the button is pressed.

Cause: The PowerGo requires a lamp to be connected in order to operate correctly. Without a lamp attached, the unit may appear to be uncharged or faulty.

Resolution:

  1. Connect the lamp cable to the PowerGo.
  2. Attach the lamp to the cable.
  3. Power on the PowerGo and verify normal operation.

2. Faulty Lamp Cable

Symptom: The PowerGo appears unresponsive or not working correctly despite the lamp being connected.

Cause: A damaged or defective lamp cable can prevent the unit from functioning.

Resolution:

  • Replace the lamp cable with the spare cable supplied with the unit and retest.
  • If the unit operates correctly with the spare cable, the original cable should be replaced.

3. Incorrect Charger in Use

Symptom: The PowerGo does not charge, or charges intermittently.

Cause: Third-party chargers may not deliver the correct power output and can cause charging failures or damage to the unit.

Resolution:

  • Always use the charger supplied with the PowerGo.
  • Do not substitute with a third-party charger, even if it appears compatible. Use of an unauthorised charger may void the warranty and could cause permanent damage to the unit.

4. Incorrect USB Charging Cable in Use

Symptom: The PowerGo does not charge despite being connected to the charger.

Cause: Third-party USB cables may appear visually identical to the supplied cable but can differ slightly in plug dimensions. This may prevent the connector from fully seating in the PowerGo's charging socket, resulting in no electrical contact being made — even when the cable appears to be properly inserted.

Resolution:

  • Always use the USB charging cable supplied with the PowerGo.
  • Do not use third-party USB cables, regardless of their apparent similarity to the original.
